Niklas Norberg Wirtén – nature and wildlife photographer with a passion for the local
Most of my images are photographed within a train ride or two away – the vast majority within walking distance from my home – outside of Stockholm, Sweden – or closer to my cabin, and family, further up north. With these photos, I want to portray the emotions, behavior and personalities of animals and the beauty of their surroundings, with as little impact to the environment as possible. With climate change and threatened species on the rise, it is getting increasingly important to appreciate the local surroundings. This goes for nature and wildlife photographers as well. While you can get some great shots in the Serengeti and Svalbard, flying across the globe in pursuit of those shots at the expense of the environment you are trying to capture does not really make sense.
